A Fun Spring Break
On March 13th of this year I was lucky enough to catch Spring Break festivities at Alyeska ski resort in Girdwood at the Sitzmark. It was the last night of Town League, characterized by 7 weeks of training with 1 modified super g race each week. It was not overcrowded and the bands were accented by neon ceiling art with black light and bay windows facing skiers in myriad positions as they attempted to slow themselves to a stop at the deck.
I was exceedingly pleased to see KSUA alumnus Garrett Monroe ripping up the guitar with Razor Syndikit bandmates Alex Parsons on bass and Ben Rodgers on drums. Their outstanding rockabilly post-punk swing with some acoustic metal/thrash reggae opened up for Retro pop/post pop experience Johnny Prizm.
The costume contest offered winners a free entrance to town league next season. Featured costumes included Mad Hatter, Pac Man, Pac Man’s Banana, Harlequin, and many more. Winners included the “Ski Like Ass” Billboard, Team “Stay Tuned” Channels, and Dirt Bags (burlap sacks).
If everyone had not been in ski boots there would have been a mosh pit.
